About

We built this because the advice online was written for someone else.

Search "best web hosting" from Nairobi and you get lists written for Americans, priced in dollars, recommending companies that will not take your money. Meanwhile, a first-time Kenyan business owner is quoted KES 80,000 for a five-page website that costs less than KES 8,000 a year to run.

DoWebsites exists to close that gap. Every guide here is written for someone who is buying their first domain, paying by M-Pesa, and reading on a phone.

How we test

  • We buy or trial the products we recommend, on Kenyan payment methods where possible.
  • We check load times from Kenyan connections, not from a US test server.
  • We record renewal prices, not just the discounted first term.
  • We contact support with a real question and time the reply.
  • We re-verify prices and features every quarter and stamp the guide with the date.

Who this is for

Small business owners, bloggers, students, freelancers, churches, SACCOs and anyone who has been told "you need a website" and does not know where to start. If you are already a developer, some of this will be obvious — the comparison tables might still save you an hour.

Say hello

Corrections, questions, or a Kenyan provider we should test — we read everything.
